Every year when I was growing up my dad and I would head to the mall together on Christmas Eve because he absolutely did not believe in getting any shopping done early. While I enjoyed our yearly tradition and the time spent together, am I ever happy that last minute Christmas shopping can now be done from the comfort of my couch (or bed)!

While some stores are still (!!!) offering overnight delivery in time for Christmas, most are not. If you’ve still got people to shop for but you’re not willing to brave the stores, here are 15 super last minute gift ideas that you can still purchase from the comfort of your couch that won’t clue anyone in to your holiday shopping procrastination.

1. Magazine Subscriptions

Check out the Last Minute Christmas Sale at and send a recipient or two or three a discounted magazine subscription. They’ll never know you saved big… or that you weren’t always planning on sending them a two-year subscription to Condé Nast Traveler Magazine!

2. Netflix or Redbox Instant Subscription

Entertainment subscriptions are one of those things that everyone links, but not everyone wants to pay for. If you know they enjoy movies and TV but aren’t willing to pay for a subscription for themselves, a Netflix subscription (or Redbox Instant) may be just what Santa ordered.

3. Kindle Books

How to buy Kindle Books as Gifts

Sending Kindle Books as a gift – you can even pre-schedule delivery so that they “arrive” on Christmas morning – couldn’t be easier or more thoughtful (assuming your recipient is a book lover). If you’re unsure what book to send, consider sending the recipient YOUR favorite book, or perhaps one of the best books of 2013.

4. eGift Cards

I know that nobody really likes giving gift cards, but they can make awesome presents! When I was in high school my mom got me an eBay gift card and it was pretty much the best thing ever. As soon as we were done opening presents I hopped on eBay and started bidding. While that was awesome, you can now pick up an eGift Card for nearly any store and have it delivered instantly.

5. Tunes … iTunes

In addition to sending iTunes gift cards, you can also send full albums to your loved ones from the iTunes interface. Maybe you could send someone on your shopping list the new Beyonce album or your favorite album of the year. Perhaps it’s just something you think the recipient will enjoy. Here are the instructions for sending iTunes gifts.

6. A Night Out… in the Future

If you’re shopping for someone who lives nearby and you enjoy spending time with you could pick up and/or promise tickets to the theatre, a sporting event, or a concert. You won’t need to necessarily gift the tickets on Christmas morning, just make sure you have the tickets when the performance date comes around!

7. Send ’em to the movies

Send your favorite movie buff a Fandango gift card and it’ll arrive in their inbox right before they head out to their Christmas evening movie. (Mine can’t be the only family that partakes in this tradition, right?)

8. Subscription Boxes

Last Friday I shared some of my favorite subscription boxes that would make good gifts, but truthfully almost all of them would make a good gift for someone. Check out our full list of subscription boxes, which are separated by interest.

9. Meal Planning

If you’re shopping for someone busy who enjoys cooking but doesn’t necessarily enjoy meal planning, a subscription to eMeals, a fabulous meal planning site, may be a life saver! Use code “HOLIDAY” to subscribe for less.

10. Send ’em Back to School

Is someone on your shopping list interested in learning how to knit? What about perfect their photography skills? Perhaps they’d like to learn about color theory or launch their own fashion brand? If you’re shopping for someone who enjoys stretching their creative boundaries, check out the classes at Craftsy and Skillshare. They’re affordable and cover a HUGE range of topics!

11. Flowers

Pretty much everyone loves receiving flowers, right? Anytime. Anywhere. If you order now from FTD, Christmas Eve delivery is still available!

12. Picture This

Though they won’t ship in time for Christmas, some may enjoying receiving photo gifts, such as a photo calendar, iPhone case, or photo calendar! Check out sites like Shutterfly (through 12/29 new customers can receive a FREE 8×11 wall calendar with code “BYEBYE2013”), TinyPrints, and Picaboo for fun photo gifts!

13. Personal Styling Services

For the person that’s trying to build a wardrobe or change up their style there are personal styling sites like Stitch Fix for women and Trunk Club for men. A box from either site will contain a selection of clothing items tailored to the recipient’s taste.

14. Make a Donation

It’s not too late to make a donation to your favorite charity! I highly recommend Kiva, because it’s the site that keeps on giving. Kiva is a micro lending site, so, say you gift your recipient with a $25 donation that they can donate to someone in need trying to set up a business. Once that $25 is paid back, your recipient will be able to donate the $25 to someone else. This can pretty much go on forever.

15. When all else fails: Cash

Just like I don’t know anyone who doesn’t enjoy receiving gift cards, I REALLY don’t know anyone who doesn’t enjoy receiving cold hard cash. Of course, if you’re not going to see your recipient in person you can send easily send the cash through Paypal!

Wherever you’re shopping over the next 36 or so hours, best of luck to you!
