Beauty Reviewed: MAC Splashproof Lash

Lisa wearing MAC Splashproof Lash Mascara

I have super sensitive eyes and tend to freak out if anything is irritating me around my eye area, so for my wedding this past summer I decided to skip the false eyelashes. I could just imagine myself trying to peel them off halfway through the wedding fun and it just seemed like a disaster waiting to happen.

I’m a huge fan of the MAC False Lashes mascara, which does a GREAT job of replicating false lashes in that the mascara really extends your lashes. I had planned on wearing this mascara to my wedding but when I met with my makeup artist she recommended against using this product because it’s not water proof. I’m not a crier normally but I figured it would be smart to go with something water proof, just in case*. Because I liked False Lashes so much I returned to my local MAC counter to see what they had that would be water proof and I went home with MAC Splashproof Lash ($16 at Macy’s).

MAC Splashproof Lash

As you can see in the image above, MAC Splashproof Lash did an amazing job of lengthening my lashes and almost gave me the appearance of false eyelashes without any of the hassle. My eyes looked super dramatic in photos, and I didn’t have any issues with mascara running down my face or anything like that.

While MAC Splashproof Lash was the best wedding mascara I could have asked for, what’s more important is that I’m still using it on a near-daily basis. While the mascara is a few month’s old at this point it hasn’t gotten clumpy or exhibited any of the traits that an older mascara would. The mascara is still going strong and I love it.

Perhaps the most important part is that while this is a water proof mascara, you don’t have to scrub at your eyes to get the mascara off. It comes off easily with the use of make-up remover. (I’m still using Klorane Soothing Eye Makeup Remover.)

If you’re in the market for a new water proof mascara, I highly recommend MAC Splashproof Lash!

*In hindsight, water proof mascara wasn’t a necessity, but I’m still really glad I found this product!
