Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara

I don’t consider myself a mascara connoisseur, but I will try every brand/kind/one on the shelf until I find the perfect one. I’ve tried expensive designer ones and I’ve tried just random drugstore ones. I have no problem picking any one up and giving it a shot. But, if I don’t like, I refuse to give it another shot. This is what happened with Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara.

What lured me in was Pink. Have you seen the commercials? Heck, if wearing this mascara will help me look like her, sign me up! I’m an easy sell. :) So I grabbed a tube and headed home, excited to look like a rock star!

My claim to fame was short lived. This mascara did not live up to the hype. Sigh.

What Flamed Out Mascara claims is:

Flamed Out Mascara by Cover Girl gives you maximum volume for a flamed out lash look. Volume Igniter brush is specially designed to add volume to EVERY lash for bigger, thicker and fuller lashes to help maximize volume. Max Volume. Ignite every lash.

I’d say I have thicker lashes, yes.  I was hoping for that igniting effect, as mentioned above. Length for days! But alas, it’s as if I’m wearing an everyday mascara with a slight little oomph.

This mascara isn’t horrible, it’s just not as a dramatic effect as I was hoping for. And it actually took some work. I had to curl my lashes, which I never do, for it to really make a difference. Not that curling your lashes takes a lot of time, but it’s an extra step. Then, I had to apply at least two coats to really notice anything. Again, I don’t hate it, I’m just not blown away.

Back to the hunt for a mascara that both lengthens and thickens. Is that too much to ask?! :)

What is your favorite mascara? And have you tried Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara? What did you think?

I use Origins GinZing brightening mascara. It is $18 a larger than avg bottle and I have never found a mascara like it! I HIGHLY recommend it. Worth every penny!
