I think there’s going to be a regular ebb and flow of love and “meh” when it comes to the beauty sample sites. I’ve been a little down on Birchbox the past couple of months, but let’s be honest – I’m not sure how they’d keep outdoing the previous month’s box so having a down month or two is OK. This June Birchbox was pretty great, and I think I appreciate it even more as a critic of the past two boxes.

You can see me open the goodies live in the video above, but if you prefer to read, here’s what I received in the June Birchbox:

  • Comodynes Self-Tanning Intensive
  • Masquelogy Brightening Mask
  • Supergoop! SPF 30+ Everyday UV Lotion
  • TheBalm Stainiac in Beauty Queen – this is a two-in-one lip and cheek stain
  • ModCloth coupon and headband, which I’m wearing in the video above

TheBalm and Supergoop! are two of my favorite brands right now, so I’m excited they were included. Though I’m not usually a headband gal, the headband from ModCloth is super cute! The headband alone retails for $14, so this is definitely a month I feel like I received far more than $10 worth of goodies!

If you’re not yet familiar, Birchbox is a subscription box service. For $10 per month you’ll receive a pink box in the mail filled with 4-5 deluxe beauty samples. Click here to check out Birchbox now!

  1. Gifted Birchbox to my sister and friend’s daughter for 3 months for Christmas. Having seen what they received, I wasn’t to impressed. Their sample sizes are too small. I have since signed up for The Look Bag and been very impressed by the products in those for the past two months. Not only deluxe (sometimes full size) make-up products, but better quality products like Too Faced, etc.

    1. “too impressed” not “to impressed”. Sorry, pet peeve. Had to correct myself!

    2. Sorry you didn’t like Birchbox. 🙁 I received The Look Bag last month for the first time and really liked the products … except the container holding my full-size eyeshadow was broken when it arrived, probably because the bag itself doesn’t really protect against rough mail handling. If they switched “bag” to “box” I think they’d be perfect. 🙂
