I received my October Glossybox yesterday and I couldn’t wait to open it up. This was the highly-touted and oft mentioned Byrdie Glossybox and I tore into the box as soon as it arrived on my door step. (Byrdie is the new beauty-focused website from the creators of Who What Wear.)
When there’s a lot of hype about something it can often lead to disappointment, but that couldn’t be further from the truth with this box. It was awesome.
The only thing I’m a little confused about is I thought GlossyBox had switched to being a full-size beauty box, but there were two “sample” sized product in this box. It’s not really a big deal because the value of the box is way higher than the $21 subscription price, but it gave me a moment of pause. Apparently GlossyBox isn’t a full-size beauty box? I’m not really sure.
Regardless, there’s no denying that the Byrdie Glossybox is awesome and I LOVE this box!
Here’s what I received in the Byrdie Glossybox:
Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Statement Mascara ($23) – GlossyBox sent out a preview email of what to expect in the Byrdie GlossyBox a few weeks ago, so I knew this was coming. Still – it’s pretty awesome to receive a full-size mascara, especially when it’s one I haven’t tried before!
Bonus: With just this one item we’ve covered the cost of the box!
Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert – This is the one sample sized product that was included in the box, though it’s a very generous sample size!
Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream – This might be the most deluxe sample I’ve ever received. I really thought it was full-size until I looked up the product! This is a daily moisturizer that is supposed to slow down the signs of aging. I’m excited to try this product because while I’ve only heard great things, Fresh products are usually outside of my price range.
Sesha Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Mask ($9) – I’m not sure if we should all be offended that GlossyBox sent us a product “for mature skin”. 🙂 According to the website this mask, “makes an excellent finish to an anti-aging treatment or an at-home regimen. Packed with nutrients and peptides such as Argireline, Vitamins B, C, and E, and botanical extracts, this anti-wrinkle mask not only smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, but also calm the skin from environmental stresses to rejuvenate it back to a youthful glow.” Sounds good to me!
Balance Me Shin On Tinted Lip Salve ($16.50) – I’m not familiar with the Balance Me line, but it looks like it’s a British brand. I love trying new brands, and especially love trying new lip glosses.
All told, the full-size products included in this box have a retail value of $48.50, and that’s excluding the very deluxe samples from Bvlgari and Fresh. I’m really excited about all of these products and think this might be one of the best boxes from GlossyBox yet! (I feel like I have said that a few times recently.) While GlossyBox is one of the pricier monthly beauty boxes at $21 per month, the quality and value of products they’re sending each month far surpasses the cost of the box.
What do you think? Was the Byrdie GlossyBox worth the hype?
