August Birchbox

I can’t believe it is the last day of August! Seriously – where on earth is the time going? This feels like the fastest year on record. Once the calendar hits September it feels like things ramp up even more because everything is all about the HOLIDAYS.

Until that happens though… tomorrow… Birchbox has sent out the summeriest of boxes, which seems like a great way to mark this almost end of the season.

Here’s what I received in my August Birchbox:

R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo

R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo – I do love dry shampoo and I love that this is such a giant sample (this sample alone is probably more dry shampoo than I have ever used in my life), but man – the subscription boxes have really loved their dry shampoo this summer! In the past two months alone I’ve received three different containers of dry shampoo. I feel like I would really be loving this if it weren’t for the fact that I have super curly hair, which means that I wash my hair every single day… unless I have a blow out. Considering I get a blow out approximately three times per year, it could be awhile until I put this sample to use.

Curly Hair Solutions Silk Leave-In Conditioner

Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper Silk Leave-In Conditioner – Speaking of curly hair… I am thoroughly smitten with the Living Proof Curl Line at the moment, but I always love receiving new curly hair products. (And honestly – curly hair products are sent far too rarely.) I have never tried anything from this brand so I’m excited to give this product a whirl. We are heading out of town for the holiday, so this leave-in conditioner is definitely finding its way into my luggage.

Supergoop! Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream

Supergoop! Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream – I thought this was the tiniest sample ever until I saw that it was eye cream. For eye cream it is actually pretty good and I could probably make this sample last a couple of months. I love receiving eye cream samples because eye cream can be expensive and I love that this one has SPF coverage, which is something many eye creams seem to lack.

LAQA & Co. Cheeky Lip

LAQA & Co. Cheeky Lip Crayon in “Cray Cray” – I want to love this product so much. Theoretically I do because I love coral. Coral, however, does not love me. This color is so bright – almost neon – that it just looks clownish with my skin tone. It’s not good. This is, however, a full-size product that’s part of the larger LAQA & Co. Charm School Kit, so it’s nice that Birchbox finally sent another full-size product out as it has been awhile.

Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer

Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer – I’m not familiar with this brand or product, but according to the description provided by Birchbox this moisturizer is “packed with antioxidants and humectants.”

Overall: I said the July Birchbox was one of the best I had received in awhile and I think the August Birchbox is fairly similar. I’m a little bummed that the LAQA color didn’t work out for me, but that’s not something I can blame on the company. I also wish I could get more use out of dry shampoo, but again, I can’t really blame Birchbox for that. The quality of these products is great and it’s nice to see some new (to me) products and brands.

I’m most excited about the Supergoop! eye cream and the leave-in conditioner. I’m hoping one of these becomes a new favorite!

Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription box. A subscription costs $10 per month and boxes typically include five deluxe beauty samples.
