Lisa, it’s your birthday! Happy Birthday, Lisa!
Today is, in fact, my birthday, and for reasons that will be immediately obvious I was holding this review until today. Not that I held the review for a long time as the box showed up at my door this past Friday.
Here’s what I received in
birthday box August PopSugar Must Have Box:
Southern Culture Shortstacks Birthday Cake Pancake & Waffle Mix ($7.99) – I have long described the PopSugar Must Have Box as being like a monthly birthday treat and considering that my birthday is in August – today, actually – I love that they included a birthday-related item! Not only that but Souther Culture Shortstacks are a food item I have been meaning to try for years! My husband and I made these waffles over the weekend and they were very tasty. I don’t know that they tasted just like birthday cake, but then again I like my cake covered with frosting and as sweet as possible. This mix did have sprinkles inside of it though!
Best Day Ever Mug ($12) – I loved the inclusion of this mug! I love mugs like this but could never bring myself to spend any money to buy one. Now that I have this one, however, I will be putting it to good use. Every morning my son wakes me up somewhere between 6-6:30 a.m. and before grabbing him I make him a bottle and me a mug of coffee and then we both enjoy our morning beverages together. This mug will be a nice little reminder that every day with him IS the best day ever… even when those days start a little earlier than I’d prefer.
Folger’s Iced Café ($4.99) – I’ll admit to being a bit of a coffee snob and hadn’t really thought about Folger’s since I was a child. My grandma lived with us when I was growing up and she started each day with a cup of Folger’s instant coffee. For the longest time I thought this was the only way people made coffee. I prefer my Keurig and especially my Chocolate Chipotle Mole Coffee, but I will definitely give this concentrated iced coffee a try. At this point I never say no to coffee.
Royal Apothic Tea Balm Firming Eye Treatment ($36) – I’d never heard of this product but now that I’m another year older it seems like something I might need. According to the description it will help smooth fine lines and banish dark circles. I think I’ll start putting this to use tonight!
Meri Meri Toot Sweet Pink Stripe Napkins ($5.95) – How cute are these napkins?! While they’re completely adorable, I’m probably going to end up regifting these as we switched to only using cloth napkins a few years ago. If these were blue I’d save them for my son’s first birthday party.
American Colors Mediterranean Plaid Scarf ($79) – There are only a couple of things that are certain, such as death, taxes, and that PopSugar will include at least one scarf per year in the Must Have Box. 😉 The latest scarf is super cute and will add a great pop of plaid to fall outfits! I love the contrasting plaid patterns, but I also love that this scarf is super long, so it can be worn many different ways. I am already itching to pair it with a white button down, dark jeans, and tall brown boots. I don’t actually have tall brown boots though, so I might need to get on that…
Happy Jackson Yay Lunch! Lunch Box ($10) – I think this lunch box is absolutely adorable, though I have no use for it. If my son were a bit older it might be a great option for him, but I think I might offer it to a friend who already has a school age child, or to someone who wants to upgrade her lunch-carrying option for work.
Overall: Despite the fact that there are a couple of items that I am giving away, I’m not going to hold it against this box. Every product isn’t perfect for every person and if I had different things going on in my life I probably would make use of the napkins and lunch box. I’m happy to pass these items along to someone who will put them to good use though! I’m super excited about the waffle mix (as evidenced by the fact that it’s already gone), the under eye cream, the mug, and the scarf so I have absolutely zero complaints. Out of all of the years I have been a subscriber to the PopSugar Must Have Box, this is the best box they have sent during the month of my birthday.
The approximate retail value of this box is $155, which is pretty good for a box that cost me $39.95.
