While I normally rush and try to review my Popsugar Must Have Box as soon as it arrives, I wasn’t particularly motivated this month. The box was stuffed full of products, many of which I will use, but none that were particularly exciting. It wasn’t their worst month, but it was far from the best, in my opinion.
Here’s what I received in my October Popsugar Must Have Box:
Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling ($25 retail value but currently $15 at Amazon) – This was one of the spoilers they released early and it’s the item that I was most excited to receive. I can’t wait to dive into this book… just as soon as I finish the 2015 Holiday Gift Guide.
Savvy Sleepers Luxury Satin Pillowcase ($36) – I really need to wash this because I have actually been wanting to try out a satin pillowcase. Apparently it prevents sleep wrinkles! I’m a back sleeper though, so I am hoping it somehow works through osmosis. 😉
Easy, Tiger Brown Paper Liquor Bag Set ($8) – I do think these brown bags are cute for carrying wine around and a better option than some of the cloth wine carriers that exist and that I don’t understand. What does one do with the wine carrier after the wine is removed? It’s not really practical for carrying anything else. Do you just regift it the next time you bring wine to someone else? So many questions that are eliminated with these paper wine bags.
Belgian Boys De Stroopwafel ($1.59) – You know me – I never say no to a treat in any subscription box! I had this today with my morning coffee grinds-filled coffee. (Update: My new cheap Keurig hasn’t arrived yet.) I thought the caramel flavoring of the Stroopwafel was only OK. This made for a good breakfast but this isn’t something I would ever rebuy.
Richer Poorer Hope Slipper Socks ($15) – These socks were designed by Popsugar to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They’re cute, I love that they’re for a good cause and I’ll definitely be wearing them this winter, but this isn’t something I’d ever buy myself. In fact, I think all of my slipper socks have been gifts.
The Honest Company Sea Salt + Sugar Body Scrub ($17) – Personally, I think this would have been an ideal product for the summer. I’m looking forward to trying another product from The Honest Co. though. Right now I only use their cleaning products and I haven’t really tried any of their personal care products.
It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product (Deluxe Sample) – This is considered a “special extra” in the box, but it’s a great extra! I’ve been a fan of this product ever since Megan wrote an It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product review a couple of years ago. It does such a great job of detangling my hair and I’m excited to have a bottle to keep in my suitcase. This product isn’t particularly cheap and I have been too cheap to buy a second bottle, so this is fantastic!
Not Pictured: $40 Danielle Stevens Jewelry gift card that can only be applied to personalized jewelry. Since there is no personalized jewelry costing $40 or less, I consider this to just be a coupon.
Overall Retail Value of Box: $102.50
Final Thoughts: Per the card at the beginning of this post, Popsugar Must Have made a donation to Right Action for Women in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It doesn’t say how much said donation was, but perhaps that donation is what accounts for the lower value of the October box? It would be nice if they were more clear on the donation.
As I said earlier, this certainly isn’t the best box I’ve received from them though it’s not the worst. It’s just kind of blah considering the only product I *really* want this month is the Mindy Kaling book, which I would have purchased regardless. My fingers are crossed that the November box is a little more inspiring!
