It’s not everyday you receive a box of candy in the mail – let alone a box of Mexican Candy – but that’s just what happened last week. The Mexican Candy Box is a brand new subscription box, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say it was one of the tastiest boxes I’ve received!
The Mexican Candy Box costs $12 for a solo box (enough candy for you), $15 for the amigo box (enough for you and a friend, or $20 for the familia box (enough for a family). I received the solo Mexican Candy Box, which contained all of the candy above and is definitely more than enough for just me!
Here’s what I received:
Las Sevillanas Mini Oblea – wafer with goat milk caramel – Where have these candies been my whole life?! The goats milk caramel is soft and slightly salty. These are SO tasty!
Cremino Blanco – Milk, cocoa, and hazelnut praline – My husband really liked this! It is not particularly sweet, though it’s a sold piece of chocolate.
Motitos Gum – I haven’t tried these yet, but the colorful packaging is fun!
Rikos Kikos – a cherry lollipop that I am enjoying as I type this. It’s tasty!
Palehuesito – fruit yogurt flavored lollipop with chili – My husband is going to have to eat this one because the stick being covered in chili is a little too intimidating to me.
Coctel de Frutas – pineapple mango lollipop with chili – I’m pretty sure I’ve tried this flavor lollipop before and loved it.
PicoGomas – tamarind gummy with chili – I feel confident saying there is no American equivalent to this candy! It is sour, hot, and sweet all at the same time. I really like tamarind balls so I enjoyed this candy, but I’m going to say that it’s probably an acquired taste.
Pelon Mini – This is a tamarind-flavored soft candy. Check out this YouTube video to see how it works – it looks… interesting?
Tomy Ricos Besos – chocolate flavored toffee – These are delicious!
I really love the Mexican Candy Box! I grew up 20 minutes from Canada so I’m very familiar with Canadian candy, but I hadn’t had too much Mexican candy before receiving this box. Everything I’ve tried thus far has been tasty and completely unlike anything I’ve had here in the U.S. $12 seems like a good price for the box I received. While I’m not sure I would pay $12 for this amount of candy in Mexico, I feel like I’m paying for the access to something I don’t usually have as well as the experience of tasting something new.
Disclosure: I was provided with a box to review, however, all opinions expressed above are my own.
