How to motivate yourself to drink more water | ShopGirlDaily.com

I am TERRIBLE about drinking water. Seriously terrible. When I was pregnant it was all that I wanted, which is kind of a weird craving. But now, again, I am back to dreading drinking water. I bought two 20 oz. water bottles and I try to drink both of them throughout the day but not only is that tough for me to do but I should be drinking more water than that! There are many reasons and perks to motivate yourself to drink more water, including:

  • aiding in weight loss
  • preventing dehydration
  • headache cure
  • makes your skin look better
  • energy

How to motivate yourself to drink more water

I am in quite a few fitness-oriented groups on Facebook and someone posted the above photo of a jug that’s intended to motivate yourself to drink more water and I thought it was fantastic.

My goal for the weekend is to make it to the grocery store to purchase a gallon of water and create something similar to the jug above. I think it will take some serious training to be able to drink a gallon of water each day, but mind over matter, right?

Sparkling Water

Another way to motivate yourself to drink more water is to try out sparkling water. This is one of my favorite tricks!
La Croix Water is great for if you want to motivate yourself to drink more water.
I admit that I am a soda drinker. I don’t even know that it’s so much the taste as the carbonation that I desire. As such, I’ve been trying to drink more sparkling water. It is, admittedly, an acquired taste. I had to drink quite a few cans of La Croix until I started wanting to drink them. What’s great about La Croix is that they have quite a few options available that provide just a hint of fruity flavor but all of the same carbonation of soda. At Amazon, you can get 12 packs of La Croix for as low as $3.99 via PrimePantry, which is one of the best prices I have seen for this!
Easily make yourself drink more water with a water carbonator like the Soda Sparkle.
Because La Croix can get expensive – especially because I tend to drink a couple of cans each day – I also purchased a Soda Sparkler Home Soda Maker, which comes with five C02 chargers and a 1-liter bottle. You use one charger per liter of water. You can get 24 CO2 soda charger replacement cartridges for less than $20, which means that after the initial investment in the soda maker the cost per liter of carbonated water goes down to $0.83.

I considered getting a SodaStream, which is probably the most popular water carbonation mechanism, but decided that was bigger and more expensive than what I needed. The Soda Sparkler is really easy to store in a drawer until I need it again!

Hint Water

Pineapple Peach Hint Water

One of my favorite water “treats” is Hint Water. It’s water that has a fruit essence, which means it has a surprising amount of flavor but zero calories and zero sugar! If you like your water with an extra kick, check out the Hint Caffeine Kick line. It has fruity flavor AND caffeine! You can buy Hint Water online, and I’ve also spotted it at most grocery stores.

Stevia

Trying to make yourself drink more water? Add root beer stevia to water to give it some flavor

A couple of years ago I wrote about adding root beer stevia to water to give it some additional flavor and I am still doing this as well! Liquid stevia works particularly well when combined with sparkling water and tastes very similar to a diet root beer. There are quite a few flavors of stevia available, so you’re sure to find one that you like and that makes the water more palatable to you!

What have you done to motivate yourself to drink more water? Have you ever created a jug like the one above? Do you like sparkling water?
