I received an email yesterday that made my entire week: Quarterly Co. – yes, a subscription box – is now taking new customers!

I have been waiting and waiting and WAITING for Quarterly Co. to start accepting new customers for what feels like forever. The way QCo. works is that you find a curator whose box you would like to receive and then on a quarterly basis they will send you a box filled with objects of interest to them. There are many curators from which to choose and which cover a broad range of interests. A subscription costs $25 per box.

I registered for the Cool Hunting box, though to be honest I could have easily chosen more than one! The Cool Hunting box is curated by Josh Rubin and Evan Drensten, and will include “clever combinations of form and function.”

Story time: The reason I chose the Cool Hunting box is that I had the opportunity to spend some time with Josh Rubin a couple years back when I was working with American Express on their Zync Card. As far as bloggers go Josh is pretty darn famous – if you haven’t checked out Cool Hunting before, here you go – but I had no idea who he was at the time. We ended up riding next to one another on a bus through New York City and he told me about how he lived in Chicago and worked at Motorola when he was younger. It was only when I got home that I realized I met a blogging superstar.

Because of that chance meeting and bus ride, I felt I had to get the Cool Hunting box.

If I weren’t getting married in 6 weeks {and furiously counting all of my pennies} I also would have registered for Gretchen Rubin’s box. Gretchen is the author of The Happiness Project, so something tells me her box would be an uplifting package to receive in the mail.

If you’re interested in Quarterly Co. I would hurry and check it out soon. I looked through all of the boxes and some of them require that you sign up within the next 3 days if you want to receive the next box … otherwise you’re out of luck until the end of the summer!
