Like the PopSugar Must Have Box, Glossybox has also really stepped up their game in 2014. This used to be a box that I was a little “meh” on, but they’ve really impressed me over the past few months! (It all already has me wondering which box will prove to be the best of 2015?!) While PopSugar has continued to send boxes that make me feel as though I’m celebrating a birthday each and every month, Glossybox has done a tremendous job of introducing me to new brands and filling their box with top-quality products each month.
The December box was no different.
Here’s what I received in the December Glossybox:
Ciaté Mini Paint Pot in All Aglow – While this is a deluxe sample, it did inspire me to paint my nails immediately! Y’all know how much I love glitter nail polish, and this gold color is amazing. (Apparently it has flecks of red glitter, too?) This is the first time I’ve tried polish from Ciaté and while I like the way the polish applied and the way it looks, I have one small complaint: As a polish that’s made almost entirely of glitter, it flecks off quite easily, even after a top coat is applied. I took the photo above the day after polishing my nails and you can see that some of the glitter has already flecked off my index finger. That said, I think this is a great holiday polish and plan on reapplying before Christmas!
Toni & Guy Leave In Conditioner ($16.99) – Full Size Product! – One of the various boxes has sent a Toni & Guy product before that I didn’t end up using but I will definitely make use of leave-in conditioner! My mess of curls needs all the extra moisture they can get and apparently this product helps to “tame frizz and improve manageability.” Sold!
There are some things I write about that, however excited I may be, it’s hard to get too invested without seeing it in person. Sure, the Glossybox Holiday Box I posted about last week SEEMED like a great purchase because you can’t really complain about receive 8 mostly full-size beauty products for $40, but now after actually seeing it in person? Wow. Wow, wow, wow. Y’all are going to want this box!
From the outside of the box to everything inside, the Glossybox Holiday Box is pure luxe. The outside of the box is VELVET. The top is connected and opens up to reveal the contents. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the box, honestly, but I know it’s not going to be recycled like most of the others!
Then, once you pull open the paper, there are products GALORE. It was like my birthday. I can’t wait to try everything out, but first I had to share with all of you.
Here’s what you’ll find inside the Glossybox Holiday Box:
NCLA Lail Lacquer in Satin Sheets, Velvet Ropes ($16) – Surprisingly, I might be the most excited about this nail polish but that’s mostly because I was planning on painting my nails tonight before we leave town tomorrow and this shade is beautiful. I love red nail polish in general and I’m pretty certain this is going to be a new favorite of mine. (Does anyone else get a 50 Shades of Grey feel from the name?)
Teadora Nourishing Lip Butter in Rainforest at Dawn ($15) – According to the description, this “new brand is inspired by and infused with extracts of the antioxidant-rich plants found in the amazon Rainforest. Packed with maracujá, açai oils and mango butters, this citrusy flavor is also known as orange in Portugese.” I haven’t used this yet, but it smells amazing and the packaging is super nice! If I weren’t going to keep this for myself I’d say it makes a nice small gift!
Korres Volcanic Minerals Volumizing Mascara ($20) – We are beginning our Thanksgiving travels first thing in the morning, and so many of these products will be making the trip with me, including this new mascara. I haven’t tried mascara from Korres before so I’m excited to try out a new-to-me brand! Apparently this mascara features volcanic soil (and it’s not just a fancy name) and is said to increase lashes by 600%. Mega lashes, coming through.
If you’ve been interested in checking out Glossybox – a monthly beauty box – but weren’t interested in paying full price, be sure to head on over to Rue La La where you can pick up one of three discounted subscriptions
You can get:
1 month for $15
3 months for $45
6 months for $89
Considering this box typically costs $21 per month, this is a pretty good deal. It’s also super rare to see a discount from this company on a one-month subscription!
As with all subscription box deals you will likely need to CANCEL your subscription after receiving the specified number of boxes otherwise you may continue to be charged (and receive boxes).
So many subscription boxes, so little time… especially this month! Let’s get right down to it, shall we?
Here’s what I received in the November Glossybox:
OPI Nail Polish in Pink Outside the Glossybox ($9.50) – Full size product! Glossybox teamed up with the folks at OPI to create this special shade of pink nail polish that matches the iconic pink box that Glossybox ships out each month. I love this color and can’t put it to use!
Kneipp Herbal Bath in Balancing Lavender – This is an essential oil that you can put in the bath to allegedly combat fatigue. I don’t actually take baths myself, but I’m sure I won’t have any trouble finding someone else who will want to put this to use.
While it’s more or less the season of shopping for other people, if you want to treat yourself to a little something special you might want to check out the new Glossybox Holiday Box that just launched!
The Glossybox Holiday Box costs $40, or is free with pre-payment of a one-year subscription when you use code “HOLIDAY”. It contains $140+ worth of beauty products, including:
Korres Volcanic Minerals Volumizing Mascara ($20)
The Lip Bar Lipstick in Crimson Wonderland ($25)
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Loose Colour Concentrate in Smoke ($14)
NCLA Nail Lacquer in “Satin Sheets, Velvet Ropes” ($16)
Calvin Klein Reveal
Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in “Wind” ($20)
Teadora Nourishing Lip Butter ($15)
Cargo TexasLiner Liquid Eye Liner ($20)
This appears to be an entire beauty makeover packaged together in one box!
Unfortunately the Glossybox Holiday Box is NOT guaranteed to arrive by December 25, 2014, which is a good reason why this limited-edition box might be a better treat for you than for another. I’m not sure when this box will ship.
Interested? Head to Glossybox and then click on the “Limited Edition” tab at the top of the page.
The difference between the October Birchbox and the October Glossybox is like night and day. I detailed my disappointment with Birchbox yesterday, but I was honestly amazed to open up this month’s Glossybox to see 3 4 full-size products sitting right on top. And not just any full-size products – really good ones!
Here’s what I received in my October Glossybox:
Tarte Power Pigment in Flush ($24) – Full Size Product! And this one product alone covers the cost of the entire box this month! I love when that happens! Tarte Power Pigment was inspired by Tarte’s cheap stains. It goes on super smooth and the color is fairly subtle. It also moisturizes as it is made out of vitamins and shea butter. I am really excited about this inclusion! (Of course, this was one of the sneak peeks they sent out earlier this month!)
Proganix Volume Root Boost Finish + Body Builder ($11.99) – Full Size Product! If I’m being fully honest with you here, I’m not going to try nor use this product because if there is anything my naturally curly mane doesn’t need it’s more body! That said, this is a great addition to the box that will help add body and volume to hair.
Glossybox has just released another sneak peek of an item that will be included in their upcoming October box and it’s a good one!
Every October Glossybox will contain a full-size tube of Tarte’s Power Pigment in either the color flush or awakening! This is a $24 product and since Glossybox only costs $21 per month this one product more than covers the cost of the box!
BONUS: If you’re not yet a Glossybox subscriber and you’d like to sign up now, use code “GBGLAM” to get a free deluxe sample of Glamglow Youthmud Mud-Mask with a subscription to Glossybox! ($19 Value) in your first box! This offer is valid through October 31, 2014.
