Product Review: Irresistible Me- Ponytail Hair Extensions

I have curly hair, so the idea of hair extensions seemed like something that would never be attainable for a gal like me. I’m also super lazy when it comes to my hair, so I never straighten it unless I’m getting it cut, then I have the salon do it. Otherwise, it’s either down or in a top knot. When Irresistible Me asked if I wanted to review hair extensions, I chuckled. Upon looking at their website, the extensions are sleek and beautiful, the complete opposite of my hair. Plus, I have twins. I don’t have time to apply extensions, nor do I have anywhere fancy to go. However, what did catch my eye were the ponytail extensions. A ponytail is totally something I can do!

If you have an outside of the box hair color, then you may have a hard time finding a match. Mine is boring brown, so it was easy. The color was dead on!

When my ponytail arrived I knew just when I would wear it. My cousin was getting married and I wanted a fun, yet easy style. This was perfect.

I will tell you, there aren’t directions in the box. Mind you, it’s fairly self explanatory, I think. There is a clip and you basically hook it on and wrap the ribbon around to secure it. I just Googled a YouTube video to make sure I was doing it right. :) Also, since my hair and the extension or different textures, I could wear my hair in a ponytail. I put it in a bun. That actually added a little poof to it, which I quite liked!

I was worried about it looking fake or like an extension, and I asked my husband his opinion. He said, “It looks like a ponytail.” Bless his heart. Since his word didn’t count, I waited until the wedding to hear critiques or criticism. The first compliment was from my mother, who told me my hair had never looked better! The next was from the bride who asked me how long it took me to straighten my hair and was amazed when I told her it was fake! Total win!

It looked real because it is. Irresistible Me’s extensions are made from 100% natural Remy hair. It felt like real hair, not synthetic. This is a huge bonus because you can style it to your hearts content. LOVE. Obviously I left mine alone, but I think it would curl really easily.

My ponytail held up through dancing and a light rain shower. As a curly haired gal, rain makes me nervous. It was nice not having to worry about frizz!

Would I wear it again? Absolutely!

Product Review: Moon Cats

Moon Cats approached me at the perfect time. I don’t know what happened to all of my gloves, but it seemed like they all just disappeared. I was wearing my husband’s work gloves, and, let’s face it, it wasn’t a good look. You know what is a much better look? These navy fur lined gloves. Meow!

Moon Cats

What makes them even more awesome? I can use my phone with them. That’s the worst right, having to take your one glove off to make a call or send a text? Not so anymore!

Now, Moon Cats isn’t just gloves. They are much more!

Moon Cats is a fashion accessories brand, selling exclusively online at MoonCats.com !

Most of our super trendy scarves are less than $40 from  chunky oblong scarves to wraps and oversized capes, trendy light weight scarves and super lovely infinity scarves, and even some styles for men. Don’t forget our elegant gloves, warm knit winter hats and stylish headwraps, starting at $24.95. We offer free shipping to the USA for orders over $50.

I want one of everything please!

The gloves are fabulous quality- super warm and comfortable. The only downside? They are a little too warm. I had the heat on in my car and had to take them off. That’s not a bad thing at all.

Moon Cats shipping was super fast, which is always a plus. I can’t recommend them enough.

I received a pair of gloves via Moon Cats, but all opinions are my own.

Review: Alaffia Sustainable Beauty Products

I’m no stranger to the world of organic or sustainability and those are traits I tend to look for when using beauty products, especially on my face. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ll use a drugstore brand product if it works, but if given the option I do tend to look for natural items. So imagine my delight to discover Alaffia sustainable beauty products!

Alaffia African Black Soap

Out of all the items I tried, the African Black Soap has been my favorite so far due to its many uses. It can be used as a shampoo, a body wash, for shaving and even on babies. I will tell you that I haven’t tried it on the twins, but have tried all the other uses and have been royally pleased. I recently color treated my hair and used to be a stickler for only using color safe shampoo, however, with having twins, I can rarely get out of the house, so I had to use what I had on hand, which was not color safe specific. I’ve been using the African Black Soap now for approximately three weeks on my hair and have yet to notice any fading or discoloration. Plus the peppermint provides a soothing effect on my scalp, which has been great due to the weather change. Obviously I’m a huge fan thus far!

Alaffia Foaming Shea Butter Hand Soap

I also tried the Foaming Hand Soap in the Lavender scent. Normally I’m not a huge fan of lavender, as it tends to be a little much for me, but in this case I don’t mind it so much. It’s not too overpowering and tends to be the perfect balance. Having newborns means having to wash my hands constantly. I haven’t had any issues with my hands drying out, thankfully. I attest that to the coconut oil and the shea butter and probably the fact that I’ve been following it up with the moisturizing lotion.

I could go on and on about Alaffia, but I’ll just leave it at this- it’s a company with a great mission (read more about their empowerment initiatives here) and awesome products. What could be better?

Disclosure: I was provided a sample pack for my review, but all opinions are my own.

Product Review: Maggies The Original Fashion Magnet

maggies the original fashion magnet

Although the two little balls and rings above don’t appear to be much, they are fabulous little contraptions from Maggies The Original Fashion Magnet! “Maggies are super powerful fashion magnets designed to securely fasten your fabrics together without pins or knots.” And let me tell you, they certainly do!

Maggies are powerful little American-made fashion magnets designed to hold several layers of your favorite fabrics together. Hiding behind the scenes and under the seams, Maggies allow you to wear your scarves, shawls or sarongs in ways only fashionistas dream about. Just snap together an outfit out of a shawl, scarf or sarong and head out the door. You’ll go from flat to flattering in seconds!

So I did. Although I wasn’t about to leave the house in just a sarong, as it’s cold here! So I experimented by attempting to make a blouse (or, as close to it as I could) with my own scarf!

Disregard my messy room….

Not too shabby I think! Although I won’t quit my day job to become a fashion designer just yet. :) But I digress.

Here’s what I thought about Maggies!

Pros:

  • The magnets are really powerful. Once they were attached it was a pain to pull them apart. That’s a good thing for holding the fabrics in place!
  • The magnets didn’t damage the fabric. I didn’t see any dents or creases when I removed them.
  • They held! I only wore this for the photo, but I had constructed it downstairs and ran upstairs to take a picture and it held up!

Con:

  • The magnets are really powerful. Although also a pro, they were hard for me to initially pull apart. This isn’t a major con, it just took a good pull and trying not to drop the little ball down the sink drain! :)

All in all, I can’t wait to try Maggies The Original Fashion Magnet again when the weather warms up so I can actually wear what I create!

Would you consider using a fashion magnet instead of safety pins? I can’t recommend these enough!

Disclosure: Although Maggies provided the magnets for the review, all opinions are my own!
