My attire for the spring and summer? Skirts and maxi dresses. Lately I’ve become really smitten with midi skirts, so I plan on stocking up. They are on sale or only $18.99 today at Jane, so I can really amp up my midi skirt wardrobe. Love!
The polka dots and the roses are so cute! I want!
The color/pattern choices are:
White Rose, White Cherry Blossom, White with Black Dot, Black Rose, Black Cherry Blossom, Black with White Dot, Yellow Cherry Blossom and Red Cherry Blossom.
Obviously, being in the DC area, I need the cherry blossoms one! 😉
The hardest part will be deciding which one to get! This deal is valid for two more days, so I’d hurry if you are interested.
This Miranda’s Print Dress reminds me of a resort. That makes me long for warm weather and a nice beach. Isn’t it lovely for spring?!
The look like you can dress them up- add some fun jewelry and heels or down- flats and you’re good to go! The hardest part will be choosing which one(s) to get!
Available in sizes S-XL. Originally $89.99, on sale now for just $19.99. The only downside is they don’t tell you how the dress runs (does it run big, true to size, etc) and they don’t specify sizing. What is a small? 4/6? 0/2? Otherwise, I’d be all over this!
Regardless, I am going to take my chances and order a medium. We’ll see how it fits! Are you going to pick one up?
If you have searched Polyvore for something recently, you have probably stumbled upon the site YOOX.com. They call themselves “the world’s leading online lifestyle store for fashion, design and art,” and frequently have the top designers such as Fendi, Prada and Versace ready to pop in your shopping cart.
They recently introduced LUCKYOOX– a surprise gift box that costs $150 but contains over $350 of designer merchandise. This is different from other subscription boxes since it is a one time deal. As with many brand new ventures, there are a number of limitations to ordering this box:
You can currently only order Small or Medium; no XS or XL available.
Women’s boxes only- no men’s.
Sales are final.
You have zero say in what you receive- there are no style surveys, measurements, body type input fields. You get what you get.
Shipping is $9.95.
Tax is $10 (which works out to 6 2/3% tax???)
The site offers (at times) highly discounted designer clothing, sometimes at over 80% off the retail price. How do they do this you ask? They seem to be selling last season’s duds. They don’t come right out and say this, but one of their site descriptions is as follows:
Shopping on yoox.com is all about discovery – an eclectic and playful journey beyond fashion’s strict seasonal rules – allowing men and women to express their individuality through timeless and creative style.
Soo…that means to me that this is last season’s stuff, which I truly have no problem with. I am not one to have the “just off the runway” designer pieces- not my style or budget. I am a TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off Fifth fanatic.
Here is what I received after placing my order:
The items came in a branded shopping bag, nestled inside a matte black box, and wrapped in white gift paper, sealed with “open” stickers. I have to say, the presentation was highly anticipatory- I wanted to rip open those little packages at lightning speed by the time I unearthed them.
Brunello Cucinelli Belt
Dolce & Gabanna Sunglasses
Costume National Dress
Now it is time to try on!
Let’s start with the dress. I am a more…shall we say…conservative dresser? Not a fan of showing too much cleavage, thighs or anything way too clingy. Well…this dress has all three. I would need some serious fashion tape to keep the top in place and not frighten people when out in public. There is ruching around the bottom sides and a twist at the bottom hem that is tough to see in photos. Luckily I had two rounds of the flu recently so could just pour myself into this dress. Honestly? I would probably put a high-waisted skirt over this and wear it as a shirt.
On to the sunnies…I immediately saw the D&G logo when I tore off the paper and yes, a little frisson ran through me as I cracked open the case. They are perfect- flattering shape for most faces, no blingy embellishments that would date them, and well…they just FIT well. Score.
The belt was probably my least favorite since it is unwearable at this point. It is MASSIVE- I mean a good foot and a half of belt is left dangling after I have it on, whether at my natural waist or hips. It is way too big to even put the buckle in a notch- I guess I would have to create a new notch to even wear it.
Here’s what upset me. I ordered the size “Small” box and was sent an incredibly tiny dress (ok, so it is Italian I think, which tends to run small) and a massively large belt that would NEVER fit the person who could fit into the dress. I e-mailed customer service, thinking there surely must have been a mix up. They e-mailed me back, stating that there are no refunds or exchanges. PERIOD. Huh?
Here are the approximate retail prices of the items on their site:
C’N’C Costume National Dress– $127
Brunello Cucinelli Belt- similar $432
Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses– $170
Since I paid $150 for the box and received over $700 worth of merchandise, this sounds like an absolute steal. The only item I truly liked were the glasses, but maybe I could sell the other items on eBay and cover the cost of the box.
I think the concept definitely needs some tweaking! If you do want to take the gamble (hey, these glasses will be planted firmly on my face forever…or until my 3 year old destroys them) give it a shot here: LUCKYOOX Gift Box.
If you’re a fan of GroopDealz, then I highly recommend checking out their epic sale! Now, for a limited time, you can get up to 90% off! I want one of everything, please! One can never have enough jewelry, clothing or home decor.
Unfortunately, only black and royal are left. I waited too long, as I’m absolutely smitten with the burgundy color, but I’m not going to wait any longer. At this price, I’ll get both. I live in maxi skirts over the summer. Sold.
