The Poisonwood Bible

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver has been on my to-read list for years. Today I think I’ll take a step toward reading it because the Kindle download of this book has been marked down to just $1.99! The Kindle version will only be available for this low price today, January 7, 2013.

A brief synopsis:

The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it—from garden seeds to Scripture—is calamitously transformed on African soil. What follows is a suspenseful epic of one family’s tragic undoing and remarkable reconstruction over the course of three decades in postcolonial Africa.

  1. I received a Kindle Fire for Christmas from the hubs! Yay hubs! And will probably take advantage of this deal…looks like a good book. I’d still rather read traditional page turning books…but, the Kindle is nice.

      1. Sorry Crystal! I am having server/database/RSS issues (that will hopefully be fixed tomorrow!), so some deals weren’t posting immediately. 🙁 I’ll be posting more Kindle deals though!

I hope you grow to love your Kindle! I sometimes miss paper books, too, but for me nothing really tops the ease of the Kindle. Basically I love that I can carry 200 books at once and purchase more at the touch of a button. 🙂
