Plus Sized Women: Have You Checked Out Zulily Lately?

In the time that I’ve been blogging, the plus size clothing landscape has changed dramatically. There used to be only a couple of different plus size stores and most of them sold clothing that was way more drab than fab. Now, however, there are so many stores where women can buy clothing in larger sizes online, and the number of stores is still on the rise (yay!). Despite this, I remain fiercely loyal to zulily, which was one of the earliest adopters to selling stylish plus size clothing online.

I am a zulily junkie and I’m not afraid to admit it.

Zulily Homepage

I shop there for my kids constantly and I also shop there for myself. It’s actually one of the online destinations that I can’t stop checking out, largely because their selection changes daily and also because of the high quality of items. zulily carries smaller plus size brands – including their own line, Glam – as well as larger ones (I love when NYDJ makes an appearance). You never know what you’re going to find when you check the site each day!

I use the Timehop app on my phone, and the other day this photo popped up from last September:

Zulily tunic

I bought this houndstooth tunic at zulily last year and I absolutely LOVE it. Funny enough, on the day this Timehop came through, I just so happened to be wearing the same outfit.

Despite almost constant wear last winter, this houndstooth tunic I purchased from zulily still looks brand new and I always get compliments when I am wearing it while we are out and about.

I recently went on a bit of a zulily shopping spree. zulily has had so many great plus size boutiques recently, many of which contained tunics, which have become my go-to shirt, and I was in search of something comparable to the houndstooth tunic. Anything that I can wear with a pair of leggings and still look pulled together gets an A+ in my book!

White Plaid Split-Hem Tunic

One of the items I ended up purchasing is this White Plaid Split-Hem Tunic from Reborn. I have big plans to wear this constantly this fall, including for family photos we’re having taken in November. In addition to this item, I purchased two more tunics and a couple of other small items for less than $100! I love that it feels like my money goes so much further at zulily, even on plus size clothing, which is often more expensive than smaller sizes. Thankfully, I haven’t noticed too much of a size price discrepancy at zulily.

While I always think it’s a good time to shop at zulily since they get new sales each and every day, this week is especially good! There are some great plus size-centric sales, including a couple of Curvy Chic sales, the first of which has a fab selection of tunics (yes, I am obsessed):

Also, zulily is launching “zulily Presents: Fall for You,” which is a series of SHOPPABLE Facebook Live styling sessions! You’ll be able to see zulily’s fabulous fashions modeled by real women of all shapes and sizes, including plus size women, of course! For instance, the blogger at Pretty in Pigment will be live on zulily’s Facebook page on September 20 at 1 p.m. ET talking about the best fall fashions for all body types, but they will be featuring different people all week.

  1. Lisa,
I’ve never shopped at zulily because it appears to me that they do not accept returns for any reason. Is this correct, or did I read their return statement wrong?

If the site has a NO RETURNS policy, then I think your readers should know. Likewise, if you have ever returned anything from there with no problems, we’d also like to know.

  2. Hi Amanda – I rarely return items so I don’t recall that I’ve ever spent much time talking about any store’s return policy. That said, I did have to contact zulily once, years ago, because part of my order was wrong. They were great and not only replaced whatever was wrong, but actually sent out the entire order again. I recall commenting that they had the best customer service ever on that day.

zulily’s return policy is a little confusing. In one place it says they’ll do what they can to make you happy, and in another it says returns are only accepted for specific items, and you can only get store credit on returns, which is not ideal. My recommendation if you need to return something: Call and ask. But, if you frequently return items, it may not be an ideal spot to shop.

Here is the full return policy:
    2.6 Return Policy

    (a) Return Policy. zulily will only accept returns on products that are identified on the Product information page as eligible for return or as provided in Section 2.6(c). Once zulily confirms that your Product was returned in accordance with Section 2.6, your sole and exclusive remedy is a store credit in the amount charged for the applicable Product; provided that the credited amount will not include the applicable Delivery Fee, which is nonrefundable. Additionally, any applicable return shipping and handling fees will be deducted from the credited amount. Promotional shipping offers may not be applied to return shipping costs. Store credits may only be used for future purchase of Products on the Web site (excluding gift cards).

    (b) Exchanges. We do not accept any Product exchanges.

    (c) Damaged Products. If the Product arrives damaged (“Damaged Product”), zulily will accept returns for a full refund only in accordance with the Return Procedures below. Once zulily confirms that you received a Damaged Product that was returned in accordance with the Return Procedures below, your sole and exclusive remedy is that (a) we will issue a refund to your credit card or PayPal account in the amount charged for the Damaged Product (if your credit card or PayPal account has already been charged for the Product) or (b) we will not charge your credit card or PayPal account for the Damaged Product. The refunded amount will include the applicable Delivery Fee.

    (d) Return Procedures. All returns of eligible product must be initiated within 30 days after the Product delivery date, and an applicable fee for return shipping and handling fees will be deducted from your refund. Any shipping and handling fees associated with returns include labor and material costs, packaging and restocking fees, and may exceed the actual cost paid by zulily to its carrier to send the item(s) back to zulily. All returned Products must be unused (e.g., not worn, washed, damaged, or altered), in the original packaging with original tags attached and returned in accordance with any other instructions received from contacting customer service. More information about eligible returns or costs associated with a return can be obtained by viewing the information on the Product page or by contacting Customer Service at service@zulily.com. Once you initiate a return, a zulily shipping label will be issued to you to return your item(s). You must use this label to return the item. Unauthorized returns will not be refunded or credited to your account, and we may handle or dispose of those products as we see fit in our sole discretion.
