I wasn’t really feeling it with Birchbox this month, so thank goodness for Ipsy! In this month’s battle of these two $10 beauty boxes, Ipsy was definitely the big winner. In fact, I’d say this is one of the best bags I’ve received from Ipsy yet!

Without further ado, here’s what I received in my April Ipsy Bag:

While I like that Ipsy uses bags instead of boxes (I have a lifetime supply of boxes at this point), I’m not always a fan of the design as some bags look cheaper than others. (I know – who am I to complain about the bag that comes with my $10 shipment?!) This bag, however, I really like. It is perfect for summer!

theBalm Nude Dude Eyeshadow Single – I am super excited about this! I love theBalm Cosmetics and the eyeshadow in particular. The color I received is “flirty” is described as a shimmering violet. This is definitely a color I will be putting to good use! (I don’t think theBalm sells eyeshadow singles, but I could be wrong. I want to consider this a full-size product because it’s the exact size that comes in the full Nude Dude Palette.)

JulieG Nail Color in Damsel – Full Size Product – Bright pink is my go-to pedicure color during the summer, so I will definitely be getting good use out of this polish!

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk (for brown to dark hair) – Holy moly, this is amazing! This is one of the few times I felt that any subscription box sent a product specifically for me! I have been wanting to try a dry shampoo that’s specially formulated for dark hair and here it is! I’m getting my hair blown out this weekend so I’ll be giving this a try soon and reporting back. I’ve got my fingers crossed that this becomes my new go-to dry shampoo! (When my hair is curly I can’t brush it, so the only time I use dry shampoo is when I blow it out straight.)

Starlooks Satin Finish Lip Gloss – The color of this tinted lipgloss is called “Cuddle”. It is described as being truly moisturizing and non-sticky. I guess I’ll see this weekend when I put it to use and wear it to a wedding!

Evelyn Iona Cosmetics Concealer – Everyone who received this concealer from Ipsy received the “medium ivory” shade. I think it might actually work with my skin tone but concealer seems like a crapshoot to send out en masse. I don’t actually own any concealer so I’m hopeful this one does work for me!

Overall: I thought this was a great month for Ipsy! I’m really happy about all of the products that I received, and I LOVE the eyeshadow and dry shampoo. I can’t remember every month at this point, but this might be one of my favorite bags from Ipsy – they nailed it!

One thing that’s great about this site is that they actually do seem to personalize the boxes. I just took a gander at photos tagged with #Ipsy on Instagram and didn’t see anyone who received the exact same assortment of products that I did, though I’m sure they exist. That tells me that they do make an effort to try to send products that they know each user will love.

Ipsy is a monthly makeup subscription box that costs $10 per month. Each month they send out 5 deluxe beauty samples packaged in a unique makeup bag.
