Rocketmiles and American Airlines

With my love of travel it should come as absolutely no surprise that one of my favorite hobbies is trying to accumulate frequent flier miles without actually having to fly anywhere to get them. Want me to take a survey to get said points? Ok! Want me to play silly online games or go out to eat at preferred restaurants? No problem! My airline of choice is American Airlines, but I have frequent flier accounts with every American airline and amass points for all of my accounts.

I just stumbled upon what might be my favorite new way to earn free frequent flier miles and thought I’d share for any of you booking travel in the future. Quite a few different airlines (including American Airlines) have partnered with Rocketmiles (which is apparently a Priceline company) so when you book hotel stays through Rocketmiles you can earn frequent flier miles. Airlines partnering with hotel chains like this is nothing new, but what surprised me about this collaboration is the number of points you can earn!

I entered in the dates we will be in Montreal to see what was available. There weren’t a ton of hotel options available – just 27 that will grant American Airlines miles with a paid stay – but some of the deals were fantastic. As you can see, with a two-night stay at the Loews Hotel Vogue you can earn 18,000 miles. That’s pretty incredible! For the sake of comparison, we booked our flights to New England using miles and each segment of our flight was 12,500 miles. So just a two-night stay at this hotel can earn you a one-way plane ticket!

Granted, we’ve never paid $343 a night for a hotel and aren’t going to start on this trip. But the Hotel Espresso, which is $171 per night and will earn us 12,000 American Airlines miles might be an option. There are other cheaper options available as well, although the cheaper the hotel the fewer miles you will earn.

Normally we only stay at Marriott hotels, but the exchange rate for this promotion is too good to pass up! If we book our hotels exclusively through Rocketmiles for our upcoming 10 day vacation we can EASILY earn enough miles to fly for free on our next adventure.

That, my friends, is awesome!

Another bonus:  If you fly American Airlines and you have an Aadvantage Credit Card and use that to book your hotel then you can earn an EXTRA 4,000 American Airline miles on your first booking!*

Click here to check out Rocketmiles. This is my referral link and you will get an additional 1000 miles in your account after you complete your first stay. (This promo is not stackable with the credit card promo above though.)
