I'm currently obsessed with any and all things Milk Bar and their cookbook is no exception. I was slightly bummed to find out that the classes they offer are solely in their Brooklyn kitchen. I may need to take a…
My husband and I tend to keep it pretty low key when it comes to Valentine’s Day. This is the first year I actually want to go out, but I think it’s because I’ve been trapped inside due to a snowstorm for a week and need a break. 🙂 Our typical Valentine’s night in consists of making dinner, a movie and usually a game night. We’ve been doing this for years that it’s almost like a tradition! Here’s our typical evening:
I usually scour Pinterest for a fun, romantic (and easy!) dinner. I’m not chef, nor do I claim to be, and my husband does 90% of the cooking, so every now and then I like to surprise him with something. I burn water, so the easier the recipe, the better. This year I plan on making this recipe for Seared Scallops with Orange Miso Sauce that I found from A Food Centric Life.
I will tell you, I’m slightly nervous. I see chefs screw up scallops all the time on Hell’s Kitchen….Here goes nothing!
We have been tackling everything Valentine’s Day-related this week, from gifts for him to gifts for her and gifts for couples. We shared some Valentine’s Day style (and maternity styles, too), and today we thought we’d share one of our favorite aspects of Valentine’s Day Desserts!
We went in some truly spectacular-looking desserts – and their recipes – so whether you want to treat yourself or a loved one to something special, or maybe bring in a sweet treat to share with your coworkers, we have you covered! We found fruity treats, chocolate treats, candy, and so much more. Honestly, it’s a wonder that I haven’t made anything on the list below yet. I think I’m actually going to make the White Chocolate Peppermint Brownies for my husband. We both love brownies and he loves anything peppermint-flavored. That’s not necessarily my favorite, but because I love him and Valentine’s Day is the day of love I suppose I can compromise… 😉
Ready to make something delicious? Read on for some desserts that we can only hope taste even better than they look. (No easy feat!)

I rarely post about cooking/baking and I’m not about to change the focus of this blog now, but I did want to share an awesome brownie-making tip I learned a couple of weeks ago. If you follow me on Instagram then you know that I have a HUGE sweet tooth. I love trying out new sweets as frequently as possible, which probably isn’t the healthiest hobby to have but is probably one of the most delicious!
A few weeks ago my husband and I enjoyed a wine tasting session at one of our favorite wineries in Northern Michigan, Black Star Farms. We have been wine tasting at Black Star many times, but this time we tried a new-to-us wine, Black Star Farms Cherry Wine. I like my wine as sweet and fruity as possible and this wine fit the bill perfectly.
When I think of Labor Day sales, I often don't think of bakery items. But I'm hungry and was browsing the internet and saw cookies, and, well, yea. That led me to Eleni's and the rest is history! A few…
