I will, forever and always, be a deal shopper. I love bargains and I REALLY love when I can score awesome discounts on gifts. It’s not that I’m cheap, but if I can get something awesome on sale – and the recipient will be none the wiser – why not save a little extra cash?! It’s for this exact reason that I’ve already done most of my holiday shopping at Meijer. Hands down, they offer some of the best deals of the season.
While I’m a notoriously late shopper, I’ve already done a little bit of my holiday shopping on various stops to Meijer. We live a half mile from one, so we make a stop nearly every day!
How about this for an incredible deal?! Everyone I know loves Yankee Candle! I don’t think I’ve ever seen them marked down so that you’re almost getting two candles for the price of one. I’ll be honest: As much as I love Yankee Candle, I normally purchase less expensive candles, even as gifts, because I will be forever frugal. Thanks to this Buy 1 Get 1 for Free offer, though, I stocked up and crossed a few gifts off my list!
I MAY have jinxed the Michigan Wolverines. We’re a big Michigan family and I bought this ornament from Meijer’s enormous Christmas section thinking it would be funny because it seemed like THIS would be the year they’d beat Ohio State. Well, Michigan lost and I’m pretty sure it’s my fault because I bought this too early. Oops.
Whatever team you’re rooting for, though, Meijer has lots of team gear available at the professional and collegiate level.
Meijer is a midwestern grocery store, with locations in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Kentucky. This means that you’ll often find items local to each store’s geographical location. It wouldn’t necessarily make sense for my Meijer in Illinois to carry Detroit coffee, but last week I was walking through a store near my hometown and was pretty excited to find this brand of coffee. I grew up about half a mile off of Woodward Avenue so I basically bought a bag just for the nostalgia. There’s a good chance I’ll never bust into it, but at least it feels good to support local business.
Speaking of me, I often use the holiday shopping season to stock up on a few items for myself. Case in point is the holiday gift sets that are always released this time of year. These gift sets present an amazing opportunity to stock up on your favorite beauty products for less. The best place to get them? Meijer, of course! These sets typically contain $25+ worth of product, so getting them for $8.99 is a real steal.
While the prices at Meijer are fantastic, the primary reason we shop Meijer for just about everything is the free mPerks reward program. mPerks members get access to special coupons and discounts and where they also earn rewards. For instance, we currently earn a $5 reward every time we accumulate $250 worth of purchases. (So, basically every other week.) Basket rewards depend on your shopping habits, so they’ll vary from person to person.
This holiday season, mPerks members can earn a $5 discount for every $50 spent on gift cards (gift card purchases do not count toward basket rewards)! Gift cards are an easy gift for so many people.
Throughout December, mPerks members will have access to so many private discounts, including:
- 50% off one roll of December Home holiday gift wrap December 6. Start clipping December 5th!
- 50% off one Hasbro board game December 11. Start clipping December 10th.
- Buy 1 get 1 free Yankee Candles December 13. Start clipping December 12th.
As if there weren’t already enough ways to save, Santa Bucks are returning to Meijer on December 13, 2018.
I know everyone thinks Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the best days of the year to go shopping for deals, but I’d counter that is far from the case at Meijer, especially for mPerks members. Meijer makes it ridiculously easy – and fun! – to save year-round!
