Eleni's New York Cookies

I've talked about Eleni's New York so much on this site that it reached a point where I HAD to give these cookies a try. I've been digging their designs (I mean, Oscars-themed cookies?! What's not to love??) but I wanted to be able to report on how they taste. If you, too, have been curious, here it is finally: My Eleni's New York cookies review.

Eleni's New York Neon Fashionista Gift Set

While the cookies look amazing on the website, I was floored once my order arrived. Could these cookies be any cuter?! I received the Neon Fashionista Gift Set, which included 13 hand-iced sugar cookies.

These cookies were almost too stylish to eat. Almost. As I reveal below these cookies made my inner cookie monster emerge.

So you're probably wondering how do Eleni's New York cookies taste. Here's something embarrassing that should give you an indication: I ate the entire box – all 13 cookies – by myself over the course of two days. Oops. For some reason I was expecting Eleni's cookies to be soft with a soft frosting, but they were exactly the opposite. These sugar cookies were crisp and the icing was hard. It wasn't hard in a bad way and there's probably a baking term for it but the easiest way to explain it is to say that it just wasn't soft. The icing, I thought, was mostly decorative as I also didn't think it added much flavor. The cookies themselves weren't overly sweet at all, which is probably why I kept going back for more. They had a nice crunch to them and a good flavor and they didn't make me feel like I was going into a sugar coma.

I honestly loved everything about these cookies and the only complaint I have is that the black dye used in the icing made my lips turn black. I looked like I'd been eating a black popsicle. It was a tell-tale sign of my cookie eating and probably would have been a nuisance if I was going out somewhere or if I'd gotten these cookies at an event.

Eleni's has all sorts of fun cookies, and you can even work with them to create custom cookies. Eleni's New York cookies would be great for baby showers, weddings, or as thank you gifts. The cookies I received would make a fun Galentine's Day gift, birthday gift, or are a fab way to treat yourself. For the kiddos Eleni's has Color Me Cookies, which would be a great treat for a kid's birthday party. Speaking of, Eleni's is a nut-free bakery. I say this here because a lot of schools no longer allow products with nuts, so this would be a great option for a classroom celebration!

All cookies ship from Long Island City, so check out this shipping map to guesstimate how long it will take for your cookies to arrive at your door via ground shipping. Expedited shipping options are available as well. If you're in New York City, the Eleni's New York store is located in the Chelsea Market Building at 75 9th Avenue.

Disclosure: I was provided with a box of cookies for the purpose of this review but all opinions expressed above are my own.
