Prince Lionheart Back-to-Sleep Bear

If there's one thing new parents crave, it's sleep. Unfortunately, there seems to be absolutely no magic trick to get newborns to sleep, but we certainly have a lot of tricks and tools to help!  We used the popular Sleep Sheep when my son was a newborn, which provides about 24 minutes of white noise before shutting off automatically.  That automatic shut off was my biggest complaint though – because when he woke up later, there wasn't any soothing sound to lull him back to sleep.  That's where the Prince Lionheart Back-to-Sleep Bear comes into play.

Gift Guide Spotlight

The Back-to-Sleep Bear has a motion detector that automatically detects if your baby cries in the night, or if the bear is moved.  When it senses that sound or motion, the white noise goes on and soothes your baby back to sleep.  GENIUS.  Much like many other sleep aides, the Back-to-Sleep Bear has various sound options:  it offers 4 lullabies, white noise, ocean waves, and womb sound (which was actually recorded in a mother's womb!). Additionally, parents can record their own soothing message or the baby's favorite sound to help lull him back to sleep.  After 5 minutes, the sound automatically shuts off to save battery life.  In addition to the actual Back-to-Sleep Bear, in this package you also receive what Prince Lionheart calls “silkie,” a soft lovey that retains parents' scent and acts as a natural bonding aid.  They recommend that parents sleep with silkie for a couple of nights before giving it to their baby.  Babies will naturally be further comforted by the scent of their parents and that will also act as a natural sleep aid.

The combination of the sound and silkie makes for a great night of sleep!  My son naturally attached to the silkie after I had slept with it for a couple of days.  My 13 month-old doesn't wake often in the night anymore, but the sound activation has really helped him extend his naps.  I think that this would be an incredible gift for new parents as they are struggling to help their newborn sleep!  The best part?  You can snag the Prince Lionheart Back-to-Sleep Bear for only $20.99 at Drugstore.com.  It's hard to find a parent who wouldn't spend $20 on tricking their baby into sleeping!  🙂
