Amazon Prime Members: Download Your Free February Kindle First Book

Happy February… a few days late! January was pretty much the fastest month ever and I have a feeling February will feel similar. Though it seems like time is flying a little too quickly, the start of a new month does mean the release of new Kindle First books, so I guess all is not lost.

With the Kindle First program, Amazon Prime members can download one pre-release Kindle book for free each month. The books will then become available to everyone else on the first day of the next month. This month there are six books from which to choose.

Here are the February Kindle First book options:

In Farleigh Field

In Farleigh Field by Rhys Bowen

Synopsis: World War II comes to Farleigh Place, the ancestral home of Lord Westerham and his five daughters, when a soldier with a failed parachute falls to his death on the estate. After his uniform and possessions raise suspicions, MI5 operative and family friend Ben Cresswell is covertly tasked with determining if the man is a German spy. The assignment also offers Ben the chance to be near Lord Westerham’s middle daughter, Pamela, whom he furtively loves. But Pamela has her own secret: she has taken a job at Bletchley Park, the British code-breaking facility.

As Ben follows a trail of spies and traitors, which may include another member of Pamela’s family, he discovers that some within the realm have an appalling, history-altering agenda. Can he, with Pamela’s help, stop them before England falls?

Inspired by the events and people of World War II, writer Rhys Bowen crafts a sweeping and riveting saga of class, family, love, and betrayal.

Amazon Prime Members: Get Your Free Kindle First Book for January!

If you’ve been following this blog for any length of time then you know that I am remarkably bad at doing regular series because I always forget about them. I was so proud of myself that I had remembered to post the Amazon Kindle First books every month since that became a thing… until last month when it completely slipped my mind. Ugh! Regardless, it’s a new year and it’s a new month and there are new books available!

This month there are six books from which to choose. Amazon Prime members can get one free book this month and then those books will become available to everyone else (at cost) on February 1, 2017.

Here are the January 2017 Kindle First books:

The Mutual Admiration Society

The Mutual Admiration Society by Lesley Kagen

Synopsis: FACT: Unbeknownst to eleven-year-old Theresa “Tessie” Finley, she’s in over her head.

PROOF: After hearing a scream and catching a glimpse of a mysterious man carrying a body beneath the flickering streetlights in the cemetery behind her house, Tessie adds solving a murder case to her already quite full to-do list.

Tessie has elected herself president of the crime-stopping Mutual Admiration Society—as if dealing with her “sad madness” over the tragic drowning of her beloved father; showering tender loving care on her “sweet but weird” younger sister, Birdie; and staying on the good side of their hard-edged mother weren’t enough. With partner in crime Charlie “Cue Ball” Garfield, Tessie and Birdie will need to dodge the gossips in their 1950s blue-collar neighborhood—particularly their evil next-door neighbor, Gert Klement, who’d like nothing better than to send the sisters to “homes.” And, of course, there’s the problem of steering clear of the kidnapping murderer if they have any hope of solving the mystery of all mysteries: the mystery of life.

The Night Bird

The Night Bird by Brian Freeman

Synopsis: Homicide detective Frost Easton doesn’t like coincidences. When a series of bizarre deaths rock San Francisco—as seemingly random women suffer violent psychotic breaks—Frost looks for a connection that leads him to psychiatrist Francesca Stein. Frankie’s controversial therapy helps people erase their most terrifying memories…and all the victims were her patients.

As Frost and Frankie carry out their own investigations, the case becomes increasingly personal—and dangerous. Long-submerged secrets surface as someone called the Night Bird taunts the pair with cryptic messages pertaining to the deaths. Soon Frankie is forced to confront strange gaps in her own memory, and Frost faces a killer who knows the detective’s worst fears.

As the body count rises and the Night Bird circles ever closer, a dedicated cop and a brilliant doctor race to solve the puzzle before a cunning killer claims another victim.

10 Hanukkah Books For Kids

10 Hanukkah Books For Kids

10 Hanukkah Books for Kids |

My husband and I have always talked about how to teach the twins about Hanukkah. Obviously, being 6 months old they are a little young to quite get it, but I want to be prepared for when they start talking and asking questions. I love nothing more than the Friends episode featuring the Holiday Armadillo, but thought that again, they’d be a little too young to get the humor in that, so we opted to purchase some Hanukkah books for kids until they’re a little bit older and share in my love of Friends.

These Hanukkah books for kids all discuss the meaning of Hanukkah, but in a fun and cute way that little ones can understand.

18 Festive Christmas Books for Kids

We make it a point to read to the twins every day. I even bought them an advent calendar that has a story about Rudolph and Christmas that we read together. Granted, they are little too young to understand what is going on, but that doesn’t mean I can’t try, right?! Plus, it will be great to get them into stories now, so when they do get older we can all read together! With that being said, I wanted to find some Christmas books for kids that would be fun to read for years to come.

Here are just a few of some of the awesome Christmas books for kids that I spotted. Yes, most of them are probably on their way to my house right now. (You can’t go overboard with books, right?!)

I will be the first to admit that I have a book-buying problem, especially when it comes to my son. I mean, is there any such thing as too many books? Well, in our case, probably yes.

I have a remarkable amount of willpower when it comes to buying most things. As a shopping blogger, I’m basically looking at stuff all day long.

But when it comes to children’s books? All bets are off. I’ll buy them with my trusty Amazon Prime account and think, “eh, a $6 book isn’t really much of a purchase, is it?”

I stand by that… except for the stacks of books that are currently in my son’s room. Oops.

Anyhow, my current obsession is Christmas board books. I thought I’d buy my son one new Christmas book this year, and, well, that’s expanded a bit. But how can I resist when the Christmas board books are so cute?! I mean, The Night Before Christmas Board Book? Must have! We love the Stinky Face series, so of course, we had to get Merry Christmas, Stinky Face. Dear Zoo is also one of our favorite books, so Dear Santa was a must-get.

Yes, my name is Lisa and I have an obsession with Christmas Board Books.

Regardless, if you’re looking for a fun and mostly indestructible gift for a little on your list, I recommend any of the books below!
